Hearing Check: How Often?

 How often should your hearing be checked?  It’s not something many think about unless there’s an issue such as straining to hear during conversations or pain or ringing in the ears. However, what if everything seems fine?  Most adults last had their hearing checked in grade school. If this is true for you, it’s time to schedule an appointment. Adults should have their hearing tested, ideally after age 21. A baseline test will show where hearing is at that point. As a person ages, a hearing specialist can better understand changes and provide guidance and the proper treatment.  When there is no obvious hearing issue, testing is recommended every ten years until age 50, then every three years thereafter.
