As improbable as it may seem, there have been documented cases of an innocent kiss creating enough suction on the ear opening to damage the eardrum. This type of injury, known as “cochlear ear-kiss injury,” commonly occurs among babies and small children, whose vulnerability stems from their small ear canals.
