Three Options For In-The-Ear Hearing Instruments

In-the-ear (ITE) hearing instruments offer three options that are more discreet—and for some people, more comfortable—than behind-the-ear hearing instruments. While they are all custom molded to fit snugly in the ear, the right model depends on the level of hearing loss, available features, and aesthetic concerns. Standard ITE hearing instruments are the largest in-ear model, allowing for a longer battery life and advanced volume and microphone controls. In-the-canal (ITC) hearing instruments are smaller but still carry plenty of features. Completely-in-the-canal (CIC) instruments can’t be seen and have a tiny handle for insertion and removal. CICs are usually best for using phones, limiting feedback, and blocking wind, but they don’t have the same advanced features and battery life.
