The Starkey Omega AI CIC is a custom completely-in-canal hearing aid made specifically for the shape of your ear.
An impression or digital model of the ear is used to create the custom shell so the hearing aid can sit comfortably inside the ear canal.
The Omega AI CIC model we are discussing uses a size 10 disposable hearing aid battery and is not rechargeable.
That can actually be an advantage for certain patients.
There is no charger to remember, no charging cord to pack, and no concern about finding an outlet while traveling. When the battery gets low, you simply replace it.
Starkey's own Omega AI support materials include separate instructions for changing the battery and powering its CIC hearing aids on and off, confirming the battery-operated CIC configuration.
The biggest reason is usually discretion.
Because a CIC sits deeper inside the ear than larger custom hearing aids, it can be difficult for other people to notice during normal conversation.

Rechargeable hearing aids have become extremely popular, but rechargeable does not automatically mean better for every patient.

For someone who spends most of the day in difficult background noise, a RIC configuration may sometimes offer advantages simply because there is more physical space available for microphones and other technology.
For another patient who wants something extremely discreet and primarily needs help in quieter conversations, a CIC may be ideal.
